Chronic Disease and Ageing

In her keynote address at our symposium Age and the Body: Cultures and Conversations, Kavita Sivaramakrishnan from the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University, challenged us to work with her on exploring a critical project around knowledge, boundary making, expertise and the construction of medical categories. Our primary interest is in the period between the 1930s and 1960s and the medical networks that developed and then fell apart between India and Africa. We have already started to establish collaborative links with the University of Accra (Ghana) and Makerere University (Uganda) to explore this topic further.
