Victoria Hume is a composer, arts manager and researcher specialising in the meeting points between the arts, medicine and health. She is Director of the UK's Culture, Health and Wellbeing Alliance and a Research Associate in the medical humanities at WiSER. She was an arts manager in the NHS for 15 years, and spent four-and-a-half years at Wits, initiating a series of arts and health collaborations including a new music-in-hospitals programme within the honours-level Community Music course and a Wellcome International Engagement Award focused on diabetes and drama led by Professor Claire Penn. In 2017 she received a distinction for a Masters in Music and Health Communication focused on hospital-induced delirium. Her 2016 EP, Closing (released on Lost Map records), featured on Lauren Laverne’s Best of 2016 playlist (BBC Radio6 Music).
