Mercator Fellowships at MLU Halle in 2014 - 5
WISER invites applications for Mercator Fellowships based at the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg in 2014 - 15. These fellowships will support three to six months of writing in residence in Halle, Germany, with a monthly stipend of €4500. If necessary, additional funding is available to provide support for child-care during the successful applicant's stay in Halle. Applications are invited from internationally-reputed researchers based on the African continent. Successful applicants will have a track-record of publications on the core issues being investigated by the Special Priority Programme "Adaptation and Creativity in Africa. Technologies and significations in the making of order and disorder" (see http://www.spp1448.de for more on this programme). The ability to translate concepts and methods between different disciplinary languages, which candidates will have demonstrated in their prior work, will be another important criterion of selection. Another will be the ability to pose challenges to key concepts in this field. The successful candidates will be required to publish at least one working paper in the SPP Working Paper Series.
Applicants should submit a one-page letter, and a CV, to Najibha Deshmukh (najibha.deshmukh@wits.ac.za) by July 31, 2014.
