WISER calls for financial support for the Treatment Action Campaign

The Treatment Action Campaign (http://www.tac.org.za) is currently experiencing a serious financing crisis, one that threatens to close the organisation entirely.   The TAC, as you almost certainly know, has been a key agent of social justice in post-Apartheid South Africa, and now -- after successfully forcing the state to adopt an effective policy for the treatment of HIV -- the organisation faces the classic problem of being a victim of its own success, unable to raise support from donor's with more urgent problems in mind.  Yet (as this pamphlet shows) many of the problems of an effective HIV / AIDS policy remain -- not the least of which is the establishment of accountability in our health systems.  This is not the time for the TAC to close.  WISER, like many other organisations and individuals concerned with the fostering of a democratic and socially just South Africa, calls on its friends to support the TAC by donating on-line here and by publicizing the organisation's need for support on their own social networks.
