PIAF | Identification and Citizenship in Africa -- an overview

A discussion, with Jeanne Bouyat, of the goals, methods and achievements of the recently completed Social and Political Life of Identity Documents in Africa —coordinated by Séverine Awenengo Dalberto (Historian, CNRS-IMAf) and Richard Banégas (Political scientist, Sciences Po-CERI). This programme was supported by the French National Research Agency (ANR) and hosted by two research centres (Sciences Po’s Centre for International Research and the Institute of African Worlds [IMAf]), WISER and colleagues at UCAD. 

Jeanne was also a member of the NRF sponsored research programme Practices of the State in Urban Governance (PSUG) - coordinated by Claire Bénit-Gbaffou (Geographer, Aix-Marseille Université) and hosted at Wits' Centre for Urbanism and the Built Environment Studies - at the same time, and published her research on identification in the context of both these research projects.
