Makhosazana Xaba is an award winning anthologist and short story writer. She is also a poet and a translator. She has published four collections of poetry, the most recent being The Art of Waiting for Tales: Found Poetry from Grace - a novel-. Her 2019 edited anthology Our Words, Our Worlds: Writing on Black South African Women Poets, 2000 – 2018, was hailed as an instant classic. Xaba’s Izimpabanga Zomhlaba is her translation of Frantz Fanon’s The Wretched of the Earth into isiZulu. She is a patron of the Johannesburg Review of Books where she hosts long form interviews with contemporary South African poets. She is currently based at JIAS as an Associate Professor of Practice.
