Technicisation and (De)colonisation
This session discusses a few questions related to the development of new technologies and their circulation around the world. How are technologies translatedin orderto circulate? Who participates in this process and who doesn’t? Can the translation of circulating technologies shape them in a decolonial way? Three case studies will be debated along these lines in some detail: medical drones for Ghana, remittance platforms for Zimbabwe, and mRNA vaccines for low income countries.
Richard Rottenburg, Vinayak Bhardwaj, Georges Eyenga andJohannes Machinya present from their ongoing research before Sizwe Mpofu-Walsh and Caio Simoes De Araujo give their responses. The session ends after a general discussion with the audience.
