Predicaments of Knowledge - Decolonisation and Deracialisation in Universities by Suren Pillay

A Moment of Deep Reflection & Gratitude

Today, we had the privilege of hosting an insightful discussion on *Predicaments of Knowledge: Decolonisation and Deracialisation in Universities* by the incredible Suren Pillay. Joined by Victoria Collis-Buthelezi and moderated by Sarah Nuttall, the conversation was a powerful exploration of what it truly means to decolonize and deracialize our universities.

Through Suren’s profound reflections, we delved into the layered challenges facing South African institutions post-apartheid: the distinctions between Africanisation, decolonisation, and deracialisation, and how addressing each individually is essential for meaningful transformation. The dialogue spanned continents and generations, bridging African and Latin American perspectives to reimagine the futures of knowledge.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in the WiSER Seminar Room, adding your voices to this crucial conversation. Together, we are unpacking complex histories and building towards a more inclusive academic future.
