Oscar Ortega Montero (Ph.D., University of Barcelona) is the Oppenheimer Memorial Postdoctoral Fellow at the Wits Institute for Social and Economic Research (WiSER) under the supervision of Prof. Sarah Nuttall. His research interests include African Medical Humanities, Aging Studies, Care Ethics and (medical) memoirs in the Global South, with the focus on South Africa. Currently, he is conducting research on dementia life narratives set in South Africa, exploring the social, cultural and medical dimensions of such experiences.
