Edson is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow whose work examines the political economy of money and financial technology. He holds a doctorate in Anthropology from the University of Pretoria. He has a Bachelors Degree Honours in Sociology and Masters in Sociology and Social Anthropology. His research focuses on Zimbabwe's multicurrency system, exploring how diverse social groups adapt to monetary instability in a context where trust in the state has collapsed. His work investigates the informal strategies and socialities that emerge around institutional failures, and the ways in which FinTech is appropriated, negotiated, and reimagined in everyday life.
