About their book Suturing the City: Living Together in Congo’s Urban Worlds
Focusing upon the ‘urban now’ in Kinshasa, this book provides an ethnographic and photographic investigation of the complex meanings of living - and living together – in Congo’s urban worlds today.

Filip de Boeck is Professor of Anthropology at the Institute for Anthropological Research in Africa (IARA), a research unit of the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium. His previous books include Kinshasa: Tales of the Invisible City (2004), with photographer Marie-Francoise Plissant.
Sammy Baloji is a visual artist based in Brussels and Lubumbashi. He is the co-founder of the Lubumbashi Biennial organised by Picha asbi. Recent books by Sammy Baloji or about his work include Mémoire/Kolwezi (2014) and Hunting and Collecting (2016)
