New book panel discussion with Joe Studwell of How Africa Works
WISER’s African Political Economy Reading Group invites you to join us for a panel discussion of Joe Studwell’s new book, How Africa Works. The author will be in discussion with a group of researchers from WISER, the Afripolecon seminar and colleagues from African Studies at Peking University.
Joe Studwell has worked as a journalist and author in East Asia for 25 years. He was the founding editor of the China Economic Quarterly and co-founder of the Asian research firm Dragonomics, now GaveKal Dragonomics. Joe is the author of three books about East Asia: The China Dream: the Quest for the Greatest Untapped Market on Earth (2002); Asian Godfathers: Money and Power in Hong Kong and South-East Asia (2007); and How Asia Works: Success and Failure in the World’s Most Dynamic Region (2013). His latest book, How Africa Works: Success and Failure on the World’s Last Developmental Frontier, has been long-listed as a Financial Times business book of the year.
